His Holiness with small friend in 1974. This photograph was taken in a pet store in Berkeley, CA. Anecdotes have it that the 16th Karmapa was fond of visiting pet stores, acquiring some of their stock (crickets and so on) and setting them free. This photograph is from the holdings of the Shambhala Archives. The photographer is unknown, and duplication is by written permission only.
